ABOUT VILA AUTODRÓMO
Residents of Vila Autodrómo were among 70,000 people who lost homes to the Rio2016 Olympic Games, which was a part of a greater effort to make Rio into a more presentable "Olympic City." In order to make way for the construction of the Olympic Park, residents were forced to move through psychological pressure and even violence.
Located in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, Vila Autodrómo was a peaceful waterfront favela. Once home to 600 families, this favela has reduced to only 20 homes.
About the Film
This unfinished film explores the loss of community from the diaspora, the government's interaction with local favelas and the impact of Olympics on people of Rio de Janeiro.
